The Committee for Geelong (CfG), in partnership with K Rock, will host a boardroom briefing tomorrow on the issue of gender equality in the corporate world, with keynote speaker Marion Fulker, Chief Executive Officer, Committee for Perth.

In June 2015, the Committee for Perth released its landmark gender equity report Filling the Pool and Ms Fulker will share learnings from the 24 month research project. “Gender inequality is an issue that we all need to address. It’s affecting us economically and socially. We found that the barriers to women participating and progressing in the workforce are as much structural as they are cultural,” Ms Fulker said.

“I am keen to pass on the learnings from the Committee for Perth’s Filling the Pool research, and I commend the Committee for Geelong for raising this important issue in their city.”

With a poor track record of women participating and progressing in corporate life in Perth, the research project culminated in a roadmap of 31 interlocking recommendations for government, the corporate sector and women.

“We look forward to discussing what Geelong can learn from Perth’s experiences, and how we can take collective action to address these issues,” Committee for Geelong CEO Rebecca Casson said.
