Perth Perception Survey 2018

Since 2012, the Committee has commissioned market research firm Ipsos to take the pulse of the community on a range of issues. The Survey picks up the sentiment of people living across Perth and Peel, including Committee for Perth members, by asking them to rank aspects of their life.

The key findings from the Survey were:

• Overall satisfaction with living in Perth has fallen to 59%. The highest level of dissatisfaction was in the 55+ demographic at 73%. In 2015, the satisfaction level was 73%
• 35% of people aren’t happy with their employment prospects, down from 41% in 2015 and 2012
• 40% of households said they are financially worse off compared to five years ago, while 37% believe their situation has improved
• 53% believe Perth has a mining focused economy, compared to 63% in 2015
• Only 41% of people thought Perth has changed for the better, 33% thought it has changed for the worse
• 64.2 years is the average planned retirement age but 78% of people say they don’t plan to retire completely
• 69% of people said they’d work more flexible hours if their employers allowed it. 62% would like to work less than full-time if it didn’t impact their career
