2021: A year in review

This year, we were pleased to finalise our major research project the Future of Work through the release of The Future of Work: Equipping WA and its people to lead the Nation in the future world of work report and we also commenced work on the Race to the Top major project.

Throughout the year, we held two Food for Thought Leaders Luncheon series: COVID Recovery & Resilience and the Future of Work. Both series offered insights into how different sectors are reacting to the challenges brought about by the pandemic and how the forces of change are affecting how and where we are working.

We were also pleased to hold several Chairman’s 20 events for our Gold and Silver members, at which we heard from speakers including the Hon. John Carey MLA; John Langoulant AO; Dr Richard Walley OAM; and Ed Kalajzic, CEO of Western Power.

Our Annual Chairman’s Luncheon in June was our milestone event for 2021, at which we celebrated 15 years in operation and presented the results of the 2021 Perth Perception Survey, the fourth in the longitudinal series.

We held several Executive Women’s Leadership Forums, our signature event series for senior and executive-level women in the Committee’s membership to meet throughout the year to hear from other female leaders about their career and life journeys.

In terms of online activities, in 2021 we continued to run our popular New Horizons and FACTBase Talks webinars, open to all employees of our member organisations, where we heard from guest speakers on many relevant and apropos topics, and where the Committee’s members had the opportunity to hear exclusively from our researchers the day before the FACTBase Bulletins were released. We also started a new webinar series Lunch & Learn to release our major research pieces.

Our Reshaping Working Group has also provided invaluable feedback throughout the year.

We continue to welcome new members, and we are fortunate to have over 115 member organisations who represent 40 plus sectors in WA’s economy.

During the year, we were fortunate to have the ongoing support of our members which ensures we can continue to make a positive difference to Greater Perth.

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the Committee as we progress full steam ahead with a rich calendar of in-person and online events, along with a dynamic research agenda.
