The Perth @ 3.5 Million & Beyond project has been initiated by the Committee for Perth to advance discussion on the future of Perth as a metropolitan region as it experiences and continues to face a period of long term sustained population growth and economic, environmental, social and cultural change.

So far the process has included the preparation of the first Discussion Paper in the series which demonstrated that growth over the past few decades has seen Perth change from a ‘big country town’ and has started its evolution into a significant mid-tier city.

This Discussion Paper builds on that work by identifying and illustrating best case and worst case scenarios of Perth as a metropolis of 3.5 millionon people – scenarios that have been established through research and Committee for Perth member and stakeholder input.

This includes a single, overriding scenario for the whole of Perth and scenarios that are presented under specific topic headings – People, Prosper, Plan, Green, Learn & Create and Decide.

The purpose of this is to create a platform for us as a community to work together to create a shared view Foreward including our vision and goals of what we want our place in the future to be as a city-region; as communities; as an economy; as a culture; and as individuals living within it - and to establish a framework through which we can achieve our goals.
