John Carey MLA

We invite you to join us for the Committee’s final Food for Thought Leaders Luncheon for the year to be held on Thursday, 23 November. Immediately following the Annual General Meeting, this luncheon will feature a keynote address by John Carey MLA, Member for Perth. As the newly elected Member for Perth, John instigated a series of community-based forums and a large-scale online survey which generated a list of ideas to revitalise and reconnect Perth city. At the Summit 35 recommendations were reviewed, tested and priortised including many issues that the Committee for Perth has research and advocated for such as:

  • Partnering with Nyungar people to recognise Indigenous culture and history in the city;
  • Create renew Perth to facilitate activation of vacant properties;
  • Undertake a full review of the CAT Bus Service to examine an expansion into inner city areas and connecting tourist attractions and;
  • Set an ambitious city population target backed by innovative planning incentives to promote living in the city.

The Summit came at a critical point in Perth’s development and at the luncheon John will outline the recommendations as well as detail the actions arising.

We hope that you can join us for what will be an interesting final Food for Thought Leaders Luncheon, hosted by Gold Member Herbert Smith Freehills.
