Karen is the Global Practice Director for the Digital Citizen Experience (DCE) team and a Principal with GHD. One of the world’s leading professional services companies operating in the global markets of digital services, water, transportation, energy, environment, property and buildings, GHD provides digital innovation, engineering, environmental, and construction services to private and public sector clients around the world. Karen also leads the organization as the President of eSolutionsGroup (eSolutions), a child company of GHD.

Karen's more than 30 years of experience in product development, project management, networking and business development has enabled GHD Digital to deliver the very best products and services that empower partners in the public sector to bring innovative, technological smart solutions to their citizens and stakeholders.

A key member of GHD Digital’s executive operations, Karen develops and grows GHD Digital's suite of technological products and services, including content management system solutions, seamless mobile and online applications, engaging creative design, digital media, network infrastructure, website governance and marketing/branding services. Leading business strategy and development, Karen has overseen the growth of the eSolutions team from fewer than five staff members to more than 120 employees in offices located in Australia and across Canada.

Karen works collaboratively with colleagues and clients to successfully deliver web based, smart services that positively change communities. Day-to-day, Karen works with many different creative design teams, programmers, quality assurance specialists, web strategists, search engine optimization (SEO) strategists, communications professionals and project managers, all working to ensure a progressive and innovative civic experience.

Karen is also a Civil Technologist (C.Tech.), a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and was selected by KPMG to attend the Quantum Shift program at the Canadian Richard Ivey League School of Business. She is honoured to have received the President’s Award from the Economic Developers’ Council of Ontario (EDCO) ̶ the second time in history a vendor was given this award. Her skills have been recognized as:

  • A member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT);
  • A judge for EDCO's Marketing Awards;
  • A 2011 nominee for the Premiere Award for Ontario College Graduates in the technology category.

Harman is the Smart Cities and Places Lead at GHD Digital, where he pursues his passion of developing innovative solutions for Smart Cities & Buildings. With over 18 years’ of global experience with various technology-related businesses in USA, Dubai, India and Australia, Harman is a thought leader and a regular speaker on smart technologies, applied innovation and digital transformation.

In the past, he served as the Chief Innovation Officer at Brady Family of Companies, USA, where he led the organisation to be awarded the “Most Innovative Workplace” in North Carolina in 2017. Harman also co-founded a start-up in the IOT space for smart buildings, Building Clarity, built on world leading SAS Analytics technology. Harman holds an MBA from London Business School and currently serves on Standards Australia’s committee for Smart City Systems. Harman is amongst the first cohort of certified Smart Cities Practitioners globally.

Kurt Rohmann is a professional engineer with a background in Process Engineering that has spent over 20 years in process innovation and digitalization. Kurt has experience digitalizing retail customer transactions, automating internal processes, implementing electronic maintenance management systems to inventing wireless sensors and monitoring platforms across roles Management Consulting, Financial Institutions, Manufacturing, Utilities and Public Service sectors.

Most recently Kurt has been supporting the digitalization of Municipal processes for community interactions including applicant tracking processes, procurement, public facing electronic scheduling platforms and active digital COVID19 screening solutions.

Sheldon Krahe

General Manager, Western Australia, GHD

Sheldon Krahe is the General Manager of GHD’s Western Australian region and is an Executive Director of GHD’s Global Board. He is a civil engineer and spent the first chapter of his career in the Royal Australian Air Force, before moving into consulting and the delivery of major projects and holding various client relationship and operational management roles. Sheldon has over 28 years of management experience across a range of industries and has lived and worked 11 years outside of Australia in locations such as India, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
