Perth's Water Future
We invite you to attend the next Food for Thought Leader’s event at which the Committee will be hosting the Water Corporation's CEO, Sue Murphy. Sue has been part of the development and implementation of the Water Corporation's 50 year plan: Water Forever, which provides a portfolio of options to manage WA's water demand and supply balance by 2060 through:
- reducing water use by 25%;
- increasing water recycling to 60%; and
- identifying, investigating and securing support to develop new water sources.
Providing a secure water supply for the future of Perth was discussed in the Committee's Towards a Brighter Future report. At this event Sue will share key insights on WA's current and future water supply, as well as projects, infrastructure and initiatives to balance demand and supply.

Sue Murphy
CEO
Sue graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Western Australia in 1979. After winning a Clough Scholarship as an undergraduate, she joined Clough Engineering in 1980 commencing what would be a 25 year career in that organisation. Twelve years in the field as a site engineer and project manager led to corporate roles with a focus on human resources, safety and engineering design management and her appointment in 1998 as the first woman on the board of Clough Engineering Ltd.
In 2008, Sue was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Water Corporation.
Sue is a member of the University of Western Australia Senate, Board Member of the UWA Business School and the Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA). Sue is also a Board Member for the Fremantle Dockers.
In each year from 2009 – 2015, Sue was listed in the top 100 most influential engineers in Australia by Engineers Australia.
In 2013, Sue was honoured with the prestigious Sir John Holland Civil Engineer of the Year Award by the Board of the College of Civil Engineers of Engineers Australia. Sue was also elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
In 2014, Sue was presented with the IWA’s “International” Women in Water Award.
Sue has three daughters.
