MARION FULKER is recognised internationally as a leading expert in the future development of cities. As Committee for Perth’s inaugural Chief Executive Officer, Marion leads a highly respected organisation that is focused on Perth’s growth as it develops into a region of 3.5 million people. In this role, Marion has overseen more than 100 research projects that have provided insight into Perth’s economy, mobility, gender equality and reputation. In order to provide best practice learnings for Perth, Marion has undertaken on-the-ground research into almost 40 cities globally with a focus on governance, infrastructure, planning, urban renewal and cultural vibrancy. Her expertise in this space has seen Marion become involved with various expert panels that advise government on city development and growth. She has recently been appointed to the board of Infrastructure Australia. Marion is recognised as one of Australia’s 100 women of influence and in 2016 was named as a WA Telstra Business Woman of the Year (For Purpose & Social Enterprise). In 2019 Marion was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame. She is the past Chair of the Heritage Council of Western Australia and the Conservation and Parks Commission. Marion is a mentor, coach and confidant to business, government and community leaders. She has an MBA from Curtin Graduate School of Business and is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia. She is currently studying an Executive MSc in Cities program at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her extensive business, board and community experience have contributed to her reputation as a dynamic and compelling speaker, thought leader and commentator.
