Westport - A strategy for Perth's freight future

The Westport Taskforce, led by Independent Chair, Nicole Lockwood, was formed in September 2017 to formulate a strategy that would secure Perth’s freight infrastructure needs for the next 50-100 years. The Taskforce, comprising of more than 80 organisations, will deliver its final strategy to Government at the end of the year.

With a focus on the port precincts at Fremantle, Kwinana and Bunbury, Westport is currently investigating eight feasible options in detail to determine the best long-term solution/s for Perth’s future trade needs, while also aiming to optimise industry development and reduce congestion for everyday commuters.

With Fremantle Port inevitably reaching its capacity for container handling in coming decades under the status quo, it is essential that planning is undertaken now to ensure that future generations can cost-effectively access the imported goods we rely on every day, such as clothing, electronics, furniture, food and beverage products, cosmetics and medications.

In her presentation, Nicole Lockwood will share the very latest findings, insights and updates from the Westport Taskforce.
